Sukhothai Historical Park (West of The City Walls)

West of the Sukhothai city walls the main ruins are:

• The main feature of the remains of this “Temple of the Stone Bridge” is the viharn positioned at the top of the hill, which holds a 12.5 metre high stucco image of Buddha, with the right hand raised in the attitude of giving protection.

• The remains of this wat consist of a square-based chedi with a structure to hold a Buddha in a niche on each face. A small viharn in front of the chedi once contained the slate footprint of Buddha, now in the Khamhaeng National Museum. To the south there is an eight-sided laterite chedi with beautiful details.

• This is a restored, working earthenwork dam with an inner side faced with stone. It is mentioned in the Sukhothai inscription of King Ram Khamhaeng and bears testament to the existence of the advanced water system that supplied the town.
