Wat Saen Fang Chiang Mai

Wat Saen Fang Chiang Mai
- Wat Saen Fang was established in the 14th century, but the architecture dates only from the 19th century. The imposing gatehouse entrance has naga balustrades.
- The origin of the Lan Na style viharn is of importance as it was the former royal hall of Chao Kawilorot (reigned 1856-1870) and was converted for use as a viharn in 1879. It displays elaborate carved panels of animal motifs on the gable.
- The Burmese style chedi is whitewashed and has pairs of chinthe guarding each corner. The beautifully carved red painted ho trai is situated in a pond and a bot constructed in 1910 displays features of both Lan Na and Burmese styles with small kinnorn figures on the roof ridges.
