Si Satchanalai Historical Park

Si Satchanalai Historical Park is in Sukhothai Province and is situated 65 kilometers north of modern Sukhothai city and comprises an open park historical place comprised of ruins from early Mon, Khmer and Tai times. It is 10 kilometers south of modern Si Satchanalai on the Ping River. The Historical site covers 45 square kilometers and is best considered and viewed in four areas based on the geography of the area.

Chaliang area is where the earliest monuments are with Mon and Khmer constructions with later Thai variations. Here the site area is small and the monuments valuable to see. The main tourist sites here are, (1) the Chaliang City Wall, (2) Wat Phra Si Ratana Mahe That, (3) Wat Chom Chuen, (4) Wat Noi Cham Pi and (5) Wat Khok Cham Pi, and (5) Wat Khok Cham Pi, (6) Wat Chao Chan and (7) Wat Noi.
The Inner City is centrally located and comprises the area within the ancient moat and city walls. Here the main tourist pocations are (1) the six City Gates which provided access into the walled city, (2) Wat Chang Lom, (3) Wat Chedi Chet Taeo, (4) Wat Suan Kaeo Utthayan Noi, (5) City Pillar Shrine (Luak Muang), (6) Wat Nang Phaya, (7) Wat Khao Phnom Phloeng, (8) Chao Mae Sam Lee Shrine and (9) Wat Kao Suwankhiri.
West of the Inner City has a wealth of tourist sites in good settings and often in good state of preservation. These include, (1) Wat Thung Setthi, (2) Wat Phaya Dam, (3) Wat Sa Pathum, (4) Wat Rahu, (5) Wat Sa Kai Nam, (6) Wat Yai Ta, (7) Wat Chedi Chet Yot, (8) Wat Chedi En, (9) Wat Khao Yai Bon, (10) Wat Khao Yai Lang and (11) Wat Hua Khon.
North of the Inner City of Si Satchanalai are the Kilns of Ban Ko Noi and Ban Pa Yang and Wat Kudi Rai.
