- Chalong Bay is not a good place to stay. The area is on the southeast coast which faces inside the Chalong Bay which itself is an introduction to the Ao Phang Nga Bay. This area does not face the Andaman Sea and accordingly is shallow, flat and severely influenced by the levels of the tides. However it is a nice place to relax and have lunch and is also a major port facility for the many small boats that travel in side the eastern Bay of Ao Phangna, to Phi Phi, Krabi etc.
