Kata and Kata Noi Beaches
Kata and Kata Noi Beaches

  • Kata Beach is next south from Karon Beach on the west coast of the Island of Phuket and is separated by capes into the Andaman Sea. Koh Pu is an Island offshore to the north. Kata beach is the middle beach shown in the picture above. To its south end is another cove and on the opposite side is Kata Noi Beach [ Little Kata Beach ].
  • Kata Beach has good white sand and is moderately protected from wind being curved between the capes. There are good resorts and restaurants at the southern end and on the cape between it and Kata Noi.
  • Kata is a village, not a large town like Patong but has a good variety of hotels, resorts, restaurants, bars and shopping to provide a range of interests. It is more interesting than Karon and more up market than Patong.
  • To visit Kata Beach and Kata Noi Beach travelers should take route 4233 which is the west coast road, or if coming from Chalong to the east, take route 4028 and travel west. Route 4233 does not travel the beach side at Kata but rather between it and the beach at Kata is undeveloped land. Travelers should take the west side road called Pakbang Road by turning west and then along the beach. Pakbang road joins route 4233 at both ends.
  • To visit Kata Noi travelers should take Kata Noi road on the west side which goes down from the cape at the turn off then along the Kata Noi beach front but not directly along the beach. This tends to be an exclusive and private area for certain hotels and resorts.
  • The picture above was taken at Kata View Point which offers an excellent scene looking north over Kata Noi, Kata and Koran Beaches. [ Noi is Thai for little and Yai is Thai for big ]. This view point is on the peak on route 4233 between Nai Han and Kata Noi Beaches.

Phuket Weather
  • Phuket has two seasons, the rainy season between May to December inclusive and the hot dry season from January to April inclusive. We recommend you look at the weather links on thailandsworld.com to better understand the tidal and weather conditions when making a tour of Phuket. The effect of tides, particularly on the east coast of Phuket is important in planning when and where to go as access to and from Phuket is prevented at low tides and boating and tours on boats must schedule their programs and timing to meet the effect of changing tide levels.
