Preah Khan was constructed in 1191 on the site of the battlefield where
Jayavarman defeated the Chams in battle in 1177.
It covers 56 hectares
and comprises a complex of walls enclosures and monuments. It was once a famous Buddhist university of the Khmer Empire.
Many of the structures have been collapsed by the growth or falling of the jungle trees which of itself makes for fascinating images.
Again as elsewhere here one can find the Devata enshrined amongst the ruins. The Apsaras can be seen in the dancing hall but their images are stand. The images of the Devata are famous and worthy of a visit.
